Reverse Phone Detective is a web service that offers you the opportunity to do a reverse search of any phone number to determine its owner. While the free service provides you with the location of the customer (city and state), a complete profile from Reverse Phone Detective provides you with information like the customer’s name and address, carrier, household members, address history, and line type (mobile or land line).

Reverse Phone Detective
Reverse Phone Detective does require customers to accept a user’s agreement that prohibits using their information in an illegal manner, but there’s still a chance that your information can be used for ill. If you’re uncomfortable with your information being available, you have the option of removing your contact info from their database. As a user, Reverse Phone Detective is available for a yearly membership fee of $39.95 or you can pay $14.95 for a one-time full-phone report. Reverse Phone Detective offers a sample of their product free of charge, providing you with city and state information for any phone number you enter.
If you find yourself baffled with the number of calls that show up on your phone, Reverse Phone Detective can certainly help you track down the owners of those phones. For the casual user, Reverse Phone Detective is probably not a necessary investment, but it may even be helpful for businesses looking to cash in on calls they’ve missed when they were closed. There’s no question that Reverse Phone Detective works – eerily so – and if you have need of such a product, the yearly fee is well worth the information you’re able to receive.

Just so everyone understands, this service charges $14.95 for information you can get yourself by going to Google.com and typing the phone number in, to get any hard to get information they want at least another $100. You only get what you can get for free with a Google search for the $14.95, you will have to cough up another $100+ to actually get any info that you could not get for free.

The initial web page is misleading in that it implies they have further available information. After you pay the $14.95 you find out there is no info available. The website promises a "100% satisfaction or money back guarantee" but there is no way to contact. Thank God for American express to reverse this.

Yearly membership gets you nothing.
It is a scam. The advertisement showed that name and address were available for the specific number I searched, at least it seemed like it. I paid the fee to get the information, but after I paid there was not a name or address. To get those I would have to pay another fee for a "tracer report". So i tried several other numbers including my own phone and my family members. None, not a single one had a name or an address, but they did have links where i could buy a "tracer report". Funny thing is when I web searched the same numbers the RPD ads would come up saying there was name and address information. Looks like they say that for every number - but only in their ads.
The member section had lots of links to find different information, but every thing I looked at required additional fees. I never opted to pay another fee on top of the yearly membership for the "premium services" so I don't know if the trace reports work or not, but the yearly membership is a SCAM. It also seems they have astroturffed the internet pretty well with a bunch of fake blogs and blog posts (that are all the same and repeated) to convince people it is not a scam. This is due to their affiliate program, so people who refer others get a piece of the action. They have links on their site to the review sites so their affiliates can leave good reviews. But I found several posts with people claiming the same experience as mine. There is no real information here that you can't already find for free. You get nothing from the yearly membership accept the offer to pay more fees for the information you thought you subscribed to.

10% Success Rate!
All we wanted to do was to find out who all those people were that our daughter talks to.
We took our phone bill and looked up 20 different phone numbers that she seems to call every week.
Cell phone friends more than likely.
After paying for the program, we started entering the phone numbers. Out of 20 phone numbers, it only provided the names of 2. Nearly all the numbers came up unknown, except for the switching station that those number come out of. Even my phone number will show the switching station city where my phone comes from. And it's miles away from where we live.
Also, be careful of rating websites like Econsumer-guide.org who are just affiliates getting you to choose between one program or another. They make money by sending you to the website in either case. They claimed that this program has a 98% success rate in locating cell phone numbers. It's more like a 90% failure rate.

After not being able to provide you with any information, having already paid the $39.95, they try to sell you some tracing report for extra money on top of what you've already paid. Another con is that it took 3 emails, and a harsh letter to Click Bank, which is who they use for their financing, to get my money back. |
